Hi there, Celia here with today’s daily word.
I wanted to use distress oxides so I applied them with a tiny piece of wax paper, instead of dabbing the page. This seemed to work well.
I stamped a dandelion (not very well 😬) and drew in some seeds, then glued on ‘breath’ which I printed from my computer.

Snowflake book
Hi! Karen here with my 1st little book! Sorry the pics are gloomy, it was very dark and chucking it down here yesterday!
For the cover I spread some modelling paste through the mini snowflake stencil. I painted the whole book pale blue and then replaced the stencil to paint the snowflakes white. Although you can't see it here I added some clear glitter to the snowflakes. I glued the organza ribbon onto the inside before I sewed in the folders.
These were painted in the same blue and white paint was added through the stencil. I am up to date with my prompts as you can see.....

So on to our next daily prompt 😊
For today we have COURAGE.
I am still keeping mine simple as things are generally busy here 😉

2nd January 2020
Hi, Celia here with our 2nd daily word.
I remembered I had this steampunk lace stamp so it’s a perfect time to bring it out.
I first made a purply pink background, then hand wrote the word.
then stamped with white embossing powder. I used a small brush to remove the powder around the word before heat setting it.
I’ve also done the weekly word, Curiosity. I took inspiration from Alice in Wonderland. I made a quick background with green and white chalk paints and stamped a small amount of crackle.
I’ve stamped the cat onto rice paper, as I don’t trust myself to get it right in the book! I applied this with matte medium, then stamped the word with my alphabet stamp set.
Looking forward to seeing your ‘words’!

Good morning folks.
Here is our daily prompt for the 2nd January: LACY
I have again done a very simple stamped image with a little colouring and added the hand written word.

Hi there, and Happy New Year!
Celia here with my first pages of this exciting challenge.
I decided to use the monthly word ‘Iced’ on my first page. I used some icy blue colours and monoprinted a few bits of texture, stamped some icicles from my christmas stamps and then added some crackle with a stamp. Then some icy embossing powder round the edge. I stamped my words with a little alphabet stamp set. A bit wonky but never mind!
For my daily word, I did a sort of sunrise wash with fluid acrylics
And typed the word onto rice paper.
I wanted to keep it simple as it’s a nice simple, easy word. I used a flowery background stamp and scribbled round the edge with a crayon to finish.
It’s quite challenging to work so small, and the other pages can get in the way for stamping, but I’m sure we’ll find way’s around and have loads of fun in the coming year.

Happy NewYear to you all 😁
Welcome to our 366 challenge, here is my take on the first prompts.
Monthly prompt is ICED. Weekly prompt is CURIOSITY. Daily prompt is BEGINNINGS.
I have decided to decorate my first book cover in the monthly prompt of ICED. I have used some patterned papers with a couple of our Ice Skate minis to embellish.
I have made up the inner pages with the same papers and I’ll glue in the daily prompts that have been done on white cartridge paper.

For the weekly prompt I have decorated the insert piece but not attached it to a book yet. I am going to fill out the reverse of the pages with a few words about my day. I did stamp on the end panel but then realised I would be glueing that end into my book LOL. I’ll be keeping the other end loose so the concertina can be pulled out and read.
I have dipped the cartridge paper in watered down magenta fluid acrylic, stamped the word curiosity across the papers, stamped the days of the week and then hand drew the large numbers. The numbers on the reverse are stamped. The edges are inked with grey archival.
Finally my daily prompt. I have kept this really simple with a stamped image coloured and then I hand wrote the word.

Pinky Blue book
Hi there!
Celia here with my first book for the 366 Challenge. I love the idea that we have 12 little books to experiment with different styles & different ways of binding the books. For my first book I have chosen my favourite colours and a fairly simple sewn binding.
I first primed the cover and inserts with DecoArt Tinting Medium so the colours would be nice and bright.
I use Golden Teal on the cover and Decoart Cobolt Teal hue on the inserts. The Golden Teal is more opaque than the Deocoart, but you could get the same effect with more coats.
I then used one of my favourite Seth Apter techniques to get some texture on the cover. I used his monoprinting with Canvas paper technique, painting the paper with various different colours and randomly swiping onto the cover. More details here.
Then I did some stencilling...
And finally some embossing powder around the edges. I used a Versamark pen to dibble around the edges randomly. I also used embossing powder on some hearts from the Distressed Hearts sheet to embellish the front.
I stamped some text on the insides of the cover too.
For the pages, I decided to use the concertina paper this time. I chose white, and cut 3 strips the size of the template. Then I used an empty pen to score the folds. You could also use an awl or a pokey tool for this. I have a little bookbinding set which I picked up cheaply from ebay, which has a few useful things for this project.
Then I folded the paper in a zig-zag. It’s important to take your time with this, and try and fold as accurately as possible to get your concertina lined up. I decided to paint the inside part of the papers teal, so that you just catch a glimpse of colour. Then I used the Canvas paper monoprinting to put a few little marks on the paper, and break the dreaded white paper syndrome!
Now its time to sew. I am using some button thread for this, but you can use ordinary sewing thread, maybe doubled up, or bookbinding thread. There are many ways to do the sewing. This is a fairly straightforward method, but you can experiment with different patterns on the spine.
I cut off 8 times the width of the spine plus about 30cm extra. I started in the middle of the first insert inside, out through the spine, up to the top and back inside.
Then back through the middle to the outside and in through the bottom hole. Tie off the beginning end onto the first loop. Then insert the needle into the top loop before going back outside through the middle hole.
Then hop across the middle to the next hole and repeat.
Keep going til you reach the last set of holes and tie off your end inside the last insert.
There are two options of how to stick your concertina pages. You could have 4 and stick one inside each insert, or have 3 and put them in between the inserts. I did the latter. There are enough pages for each day of the month, plus a couple of extras. They tend to ping apart at first, but if you put a clip on the pages and leave it for a while, the creases settle down and the book stays shut.
To finish, I stuck on the hearts and went round the edges of the cover and the pages with treasure gold.
So here is my finished mini book, ready for day 1 of the challenge!
